Alcoholism vs. Addiction
In most cases, addiction is associated with drug use or a dependency on a substance, thing or activity. Alcoholism is no doubt a form of addiction since as alcoholics, we are addicted to alcohol. Society or people tend to view an addict differently than an alcoholic, but the reality is we are all fighting the same disease, we just happened to have a different drug of choice. (DOC)

It's no coincidence that when you search for the definition of an alcoholic or alcoholism, one of the first results is from the National Cancer Institute. Alcoholism is a DISEASE. Similar to cancer, diabetes, etc, if you don't treat it, it's a matter of life and death. It blows my mind how Alcoholism is so widely misunderstood. Most people think it's a choice and mayber
